The Journey
How pain, passion, and 12 years of survival built a queer cinematic universe.
From its inception, The Queen’s Heroes has been a journey of resilience and creativity. What began 12 years ago in San Francisco as a single story—a hero’s journey centered on Dr. Neveah, a transgender superhero—has since evolved into an expansive universe.
Starting with Class6 first sketches on 2014, a team of six heroes, the story grew into a rich tapestry of characters, each with their own purpose. After producing 10 episodes, Fernando was discovered at Palm Springs Pride by a producer who saw the potential in his work. Encouraged to move to Los Angeles to pursue an animated TV series deal, he took the leap. A major meeting with a production company soon shifted the focus toward an animated film. However, when the industry strike hit, everything was put on hold.
Even after the strike ended, Fernando knew that bringing his ambitious vision to life would require more time. As he put it, "I only got one shot—I have to go with everything I got." Instead of rushing, he dedicated himself to refining and expanding his universe, pushing his creative boundaries at every turn.
Almost two years later, after countless sacrifices, sleepless nights, and pushing past his own limits, he reimagined, rewrote, and rebranded The Queen’s Heroes into what it is today—spanning multiple mediums: a graphic novel, a novel, a card game, a board game, a documentary, and brand collaborations—all connected by a singular vision: to inspire, empower, and give a voice to those often overlooked.
Every step of this journey reflects the belief that everyone has the potential to be a hero.

The Creator
Fernando Velez is not just a storyteller—he is a fighter, a survivor, and a revolutionary force in LGBTQ+ representation. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, his journey to creating a universe of resistance and empowerment has been anything but easy. His story is one of defying the odds, breaking barriers, and refusing to be erased.
From an early age, Fernando knew he was different—not just as a queer Latino in a deeply traditional society, but as a dreamer who refused to accept the world as it was. Growing up in a low-income household, he faced countless challenges, from financial hardships to the language gap that often left Latinos unheard in mainstream spaces.

Opportunities were scarce. The entertainment industry rarely made space for a brown, queer Puerto Rican with stories to tell. But instead of waiting for doors to open, he built his own. Storytelling became his escape, his armor, and his greatest weapon. At just 16, he had a vision: to create Kraven Entertainment, a universe where LGBTQ+ characters were powerful, where they mattered, where humanity’s fate rested in their hands. It was then that he first asked himself the question that would define his creative journey:
“If I had the power to save the very world that caused me so much pain… would I? Is Humanity Worth Saving?”
More than 20 years later, that question became the foundation of Queen’s Heroes.
The road to Kraven Comics was built on resilience and an unwavering belief in storytelling. But this dream wasn’t built alone. Alongside a team of talented Latin artists, Waiyen Wong—Fernando’s ex-partner—was a crucial part of this journey.
Their relationship wasn’t just personal—it was deeply tied to the foundation of Queen’s Heroes. Together, for 8 years they fought to bring this vision to life, believing in its power to uplift marginalized voices, create representation, and tell stories that mattered.
But the journey was far from easy. There were moments of doubt, struggle, and sacrifice. Through financial hardships, creative challenges, and personal battles, their passion for storytelling and representation kept the dream alive.
Though Fernando and Waiyen are no longer together, his journey played a vital role in shaping Kraven Comics. While their paths have since diverged, Waiyen’s legacy remains woven into the fabric of Kraven Comics, his contributions forever reflected in the characters and worlds that continue to inspire.
People came and went. Some lost faith. Others walked away. But Fernando stood firm. There were moments when he hit his lowest, questioning if the fight was worth it. But he never stopped. Even when everything felt lost, his vision for Queen’s Heroes remained. He fought harder than ever, pouring everything into it—a project that became his life’s purpose, a testament to resilience.
