11. Domino Effect

For more than twenty years, I have followed my instincts, my vision, and my curiosity without ever having a clear roadmap. I didn’t know where any of it would lead. I only knew that the experiences I was living through — even the painful ones — carried meaning, even when I couldn’t see it.
Now, standing here, I can finally see the pattern — not only in retrospect, but in the way that what once existed as fragments of imagination has taken form as something real, something that no longer lives only in my mind, but in the world itself.
Over the years, I have come to believe that the experiences that shape us do not always arrive in ways we understand at the time. Sometimes they come through loss, but just as often they arrive through moments of connection, support, or unexpected joy that quietly redirect our path. Without those experiences, whether difficult or uplifting, we would not become the versions of ourselves capable of recognizing new possibilities when they appear.
Over time, I began to recognize that not every domino that changed the direction of my life came from pain. Some came from moments of connection that at the time felt small or even accidental. A friend who believed in me when there was nothing to believe in yet. A community that made space for me before I understood how to make space for myself. A mentor who offered support without expecting anything in return. These were not grand, life-altering events in the moment, yet each one shifted something quietly, placing me in environments where imagination could expand and possibilities could take shape.
The Queen’s Heroes is, in many ways, the result of that domino effect. Because I allowed the first domino to fall — the one that began in notebooks filled with questions about belonging, identity, and survival — each moment that followed, whether joyful or difficult, moved the story forward in ways I could not predict. One by one, those dominos led to relationships, collaborations, and communities that helped bring this universe closer to reality.
And this is not limited to creators or entrepreneurs. Most of us can look back and recognize how moments of happiness, support, or belonging redirected our path in ways that were impossible to understand at the time. A shared experience that introduced you to a lifelong friend. A conversation that opened the door to a new opportunity. A place that felt like home when nothing else did. These moments rarely feel like turning points while we are living them, yet they often become the dominos that shape what comes next.
Just as our own lives are shaped by the environments that support or limit us, I often find myself thinking about what kinds of spaces could exist to help others pursue their own paths. At this point in the journey, I find myself asking which dominos I hope to see fall next.
I dream of building an entertainment campus in Puerto Rico — not as a space for outsiders to extract from the land, but as a self-sustaining city created for the people who live there, so that the next Fernandito does not have to leave home in order to believe those dreams are possible. A space where storytelling, education, and creative industries can generate opportunities that remain within the local community.
Another domino I hope to see fall is one that moves us closer to real solutions for addiction. Storytelling alone cannot heal the world, but the collective support it generates can create the stability and influence needed to invest in resources that do. If bringing people together through stories allows us to build systems of care for those who are struggling, then the effect extends far beyond entertainment into something tangible and lasting.
That is the kind of domino I want to see fall next — one that transforms imagination into action, and connection into real change.
What began as notebooks and sketches carried across years of uncertainty is now something that lives in the world, ready to grow beyond anything I could have built alone. This magazine was never meant to serve as an ending, but as the moment where everything begins to take shape.
If something in these pages resonated with you — whether it was the resilience, the doubt, or the determination to keep going — then you already understand what this is about. Universes do not grow through ideas alone, they grow through the people who choose to carry them forward — and who decide to take part in what comes next.
What comes next depends on community.
If you would like to take part in what comes next, you can join us in many ways.
Because every decision moves something forward, and every domino that falls reshapes what becomes possible.
